South Carolina inmate’s firing squad execution ‘botched,’ bullets mostly missed heart, lawyers say
Lawyers reported that the execution of Mikal Mahdi, the second individual in South Carolina to be put to death by a three-person firing squad, was ‘botched’ as most of the bullets missed his heart. Mahdi was executed on April 11 after confessing to the murder of an off-duty police officer in 2004.
